Some folks like to have extra bandages, this is exactly what we use
Can sometimes be purchased in pharmacies or online
-
Keep the bandage on for 5-7 days, removing on the evening of the 7th day or morning of the 8th day.
-
We recommend a longer bandage time to help keep the bad stuff out and the good stuff in. It’s good to remember that a tattoo is a healing wound, and protecting it helps with ink retention.
-
Liquid build up is completely normal. This is a build up of bodily liquids that secrete during any healing process with the addition of ink! If it seems like an excess amount, you can always message us or come in and have us take a look at it. Sometimes the bandage may roll up or leak, in this instance you can clean the area again and place the patch piece we gave to you!
-
Absolutely! Just try to avoid placing the bandage under direct water, or submerging it in any water.
-
Direct sunlight on the tattoo and heavy exercise that causes excess sweat. Remember that sweat will also build up under the bandage and your body is still healing an open wound! We recommend waiting the 5-7 days for the tattoo to be completely closed before heavy exercise.
-
This is normal. It’s called contact dermatitis due to the bandage pulling/stretching your skin in another way than it is used to. It’s a mild irritation that can often be soothed with lotion. If it seems too irritated you can go ahead and remove the bandage early and switch to a traditional wet heal.
-
This can happen with folks who have dry skin problems. If the bandage looks/feels completely dry under the bandage go ahead and remove the bandage early and switch to a traditional wet heal.
-
Allergic reactions are rare, but can happen. If you think you are having one, remove the bandage immediately and clean the area. If it seems red/inflamed take an antihistamine and contact us if possible. If the reaction is severe, consult a medical professional. DO NOT take antibiotics unless a medical professional prescribes them to you. Antibiotics can severely damage the tattoo.
-
If you got a tattoo on your hand, neck, or head, we will cover the fresh tattoo in vaseline after applying witch hazel. If any blood leaks through, you can dab it away with a clean cloth and keep it clean with antibacterial soap.
If you got tattooed elsewhere and chose to forgo the bandage, you should’ve been wrapped in saran-wrap after application of vaseline. Remove the saran-wrap after 2 hours and clean with antibacterial soap. If there is any leakage before the two hours, go ahead and wipe it away with a clean cloth.
-
Only moisturized when the tattoo feels dry! Always clean the tattoo before application of lotion. You can over moisturize the area. Remember that a tattoo is a healing wound; you can cause more damage to the tattoo by over-moisturizing.
